Trollstua Kindergarden is a private, parent-owned daycare comprising two departments with a total of 66 children; one for children between 0-3 years and one for children from 3-6 years.
The main building in an old house, rebuilt to a daycare in 1989. In 2012 there will be established a new department with room for 14 children from 0 to 3 years. Because of this establishing, the physical area needs to be extended. There is also a wish to join the different departments into one common building.
The main action for the project is to take advantage of the differences in the terrain on the site, as well as the significant roof shape of the main building, and avail this as a base for a modern and site-specific kindergarten. The roof construction creates a covering for the outdoor area in south and the vertical column structure provides the building mass a light character.
