Masterplan for 650 suburban dwellings in the city of Moss, Norway.
1.prize architectural competition 2007/08

In this urban planning project, we wanted to investigate further into the process of finding the contextual premises of the site as a way of discovering the program and structure of our proposal. Reading the landscape, finding the best placement of the road by reading historical maps and by walking in the hilly landscape as a key to discuss the amount of dwellings and how to distribute these in the fragile green hills of Sponvika.

We discovered the trace of the old road and by reading the topography through this roadtrack, we found the obvious places to superposition groups of dwellings around common recreational spaces.

By placing the patterns of the landscape, the public/semipublic and private spaces on top of each other, creating the green areas of the plan first , we got a usuabel tool for further development of the housing typologies and a way of discussing the density of which the area is best surved.

Having established a common understanding of the green infrastructure of the plan as a base for the project, we are now investigating further into the typologies of the structure, focusing on how basic sustainable principles can be integrated without increasing the building costs.

We discovered the trace of the old road and by reading the topography through this roadtrack, we found the obvious places to superposition groups of dwellings around common recreational spaces.
