At the time when the plan for Strandkanten was made, this area was planned as a 'topographic point'. The buildings were suppose to emerge with a size and height which referred to the great landscape it was situated in. In the first proposal for the plan, the four topographic points had an elevation of 12-14 floors.

As a 'topographic point', these buildings elevate the landscape. Their formation expresses fellowship and affiliation. The buildings possess the deck of the large ships and their direct relation to the sea, the rough in the bay as well as the shelter towards the west.
